There is much more to a bathroom remodel than just the price or replacing the tub and sink. Consider some bathroom remodeling ideas that could really spruce up this frequently used room and make it unique and comforting as well as functional.
Add Simple, Unique Touches to the Shower
- Create some extra storage by having alcoves inserted into the shower wall between the studs. Even just little shallow ones will break up the lines of the shower walls and be great for holding soaps, shampoo bottles, even toys.
- Two shower heads! Side by side, with separate controls. So handy for couples or for children.
- Give the bathroom a lift and yourself a little light show by embedding strips of
waterproof LEDs into the floor or the walls in front of the shower.
More Space Without Adding Space
For smaller bathrooms, there are ways to expand the space without actually having a full-scale remodel.
For starters, have larger mirrors fitted. Full-length are best because they reflect more light and create the impression of more space. White marble patterns on the wall combined with narrow floor-to-ceiling cabinets will add a sense of height.
Trim back on the space taken up by counters, cabinets and storage. Your drawers and cabinets may be full, but how much of that stuff do you really need? A vanity that sticks out less (even just a couple of inches) will open things up considerably. Remove a couple of closets or cabinets in favor of open shelving.
A curved-front vanity will also provide more sense of space by taking imposing corners out of the picture.
Finally, replace the hower curtain with a glass shower wall or glass doors.
Vanity, Vanity, All is Vanity
A new vanity essentially creates a new bathroom. This is such a simple remodeling idea that has huge effect.
How about dresser style vanities that look like elegant furniture? Mounted on legs, they add a vintage touch while also opening the space beneath.
Then there are open vanities that have no cabinet doors. Add attractive bins, baskets and dividers to make storage a feature.
A double sink vanity is a godsend for so many couples. Never underestimate the appeal of this bathroom remodel idea.
Then be sure to add vessel sinks on top of the vanity. From round to square, white to copper, there is a vessel sink to suit your style.
Luxury Items Add Appeal
Choose your tub to truly make your bathroom yours. From free-standing tubs with claws to stone vessel tubs to enclosed soaker tubs that you step down into, there is a remodeling idea to suit everyone.
A steam room, sauna and hot tub may just be what you’ve always needed to truly relax. And they don’t have to be huge. You might be surprised how a regular bathroom can be remodeled – without breaking the bank – to fit these features.
For a simple idea, add jets and nozzles to your shower. Think how it would feel to shower with a rain nozzle above you, jet nozzles to your side and in front of you, and mist sprayers in various locations.
These have been just a few bathroom remodeling ideas. Go beyond scratching the surface, talk to experts, and have your bathroom look the way you’ve always wanted.
